Our Classes

Our goal is to ensure that every dancer feels welcome. We strive to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment for you to learn and have fun with West Coast Swing (WCS). Each class is facilitated by our approachable WCS coaches who are available to assist with any additional questions, help you settle in, and support your practice of your new dance moves.

Our welcoming venues are conveniently located and easily accessible by train, bus, or car, with ample free parking nearby.

All of our lessons incorporate solo drills, technique work, and fundamental patterns of the dance. The Level 1 class focuses on essential footwork and movements required for progression to our Level 2 & 3 classes. Each month, our classes explore different themes ranging from advanced variations of basic patterns to tips on enhancing musicality in your dancing.

We accommodate dancers of all levels and are committed to getting you ‘swinging’ after just one lesson.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am brand new to West Coast Swing (WCS) when can I attend class?

Answer

We teach a monthly West Coast Swing (WCS) class the first Sunday of every month, in Scone, Perth. We try and provide something for everyone through our Level 1 & 2 classes . We follow a rough 'theme' every month but beginner dancers can turn up and start their journey into WCS by attending our Level 1 classes. We have dance 'coaches' in every class who spend time with all our 'new' dancers, their job is to help with any extra tuition and help you settle in.

Do I need a dance partner?

Answer

No. WCS is a social dance, we rotate partners throughout the classes. This means that there is no need to bring a partner to dance with as you will get to practice with a wide range of dancers.

What should I wear to class?

Answer

West Coast Swing is a trendy street dance, so informal attire is great for class and best for social dancing. Comfort and fashion are key so jeans and a t-shirt are perfectly acceptable.

We also sell a selection of stylish T-shirts, vests and slouches for both men and women, specially designed for SWAY West Coast Swing. Please ask for details…

Comfortable and flat footwear is great! Ladies, avoid a high heel as the dance involves a lot of walking forward with a heel lead. A comfortable shoe with either suede or leather sole with a short heel is advisable.

Gents, a Cuban heel is commonly worn among WCS dancers, however, any shoe with a suede or leather sole that is comfortable and does not have a protruding edge around the sole will be fine.
